Cyberbullying Handbook

Recognize, respond to, and prevent cyberbullying.

What is Cyberbullying?

Cyberbullying is the use of digital platforms — social media, messaging apps, online games — to harass, threaten, embarrass, or target another person repeatedly.

Forms of Cyberbullying

  • Harassment — repeated hurtful messages sent privately or publicly
  • Doxing — sharing someone's private information without consent
  • Impersonation — creating fake accounts to damage someone's reputation
  • Exclusion — deliberately leaving someone out of online groups
  • Threats — sending threatening or violent messages

What To Do

  • Do not respond to the bully — it often escalates things
  • Screenshot and save all evidence
  • Block the person on all platforms
  • Report to the platform (Facebook, TikTok, etc.)
  • Tell a trusted adult, teacher, or parent
  • Contact authorities if threats are made
